Now fancy dress is not everyone’s idea of fun in fact let’s be honest it really is some peoples idea of hell. The key to getting it right is picking a theme that isn’t to raucous and isn’t going to offend the shyer members of your Hen Party. I have found in the past the best thing is to put ideas out there and see what people think and how they feel about fancy dress.
Looking back over the year’s the idea of what classes as fancy dress has changed greatly. The concept of fancy dress has evolved from the 15th century Italian masquerade balls, which were public festivities held for the upper classes, and which were closely associated with the traditional Venetian Carnival to the overly outrageous and sexy outfits seen out on many a Birmingham Hen Night. Overtime the whole idea of fancy dress has stepped away from elegant parties to a form of dress used to add fun to any night out. In particular a Hen Party where anything goes and the more authentic and original the better.
The spectrum of ideas to choose from is endless. You can either play it safe with the easy to buy harmless to most people pink sashes and bunny ears or be a little risky with cheerleaders or baseball players and get everyone looking the same. A popular theme that seems to have grown more over the past few years is old women. Perfect for those who don’t want to be flashing to everyone but who love the idea of creating a stir when out on your Birmingham Hen Party.
My personal favourite fancy dress idea has to be a night out in nurse’s uniforms. This theme can be as sexy as you want (short mini dress, stockings, bra on show) to the old fashioned matron (dress from neck to floor, flat pumps and no skin on show). With the nurses theme there isn’t a reason why some girls couldn’t dress as doctors in lab coats (We are not sexist here at Stag and Hen Birmingham). And if nurses isn’t your thing then how about cop’s and robbers certain to get a few men in Birmingham causing trouble just so they can get arrested by you.
The streets of Birmingham are awash with some of the best fancy dress you have ever seen on a Friday and Saturday night and it really is a case of who can come up with the best idea. If you’re struggling to think of an idea then why not base it around your activity. For example if your doing a dance class i:e Grease then why not get all your Hen’s to dress up as Pink ladies, easy to do and doesn’t have to cost the earth. Or how about going as playing cards if you are off to challenge each other at a poker night?
